Become the long assumed dead aristocrat, Arthur Artorias, as he takes revenge upon Greater Heaven, a religious order with an iron grip on the remains of his homestead.

April 22, 2022 — Is it just me, or are stealth games inherently silly? Any genre that features grown men crouching and crawling around in the shadows, sidestepping like a demented crab escaping from a rock pool is not one that can be taken seriously. The silliness doesn’t stop there, however. Each game features guards with the memories of goldfish and copious patches of long grass to hide in (why do sinister organizations never do any mowing?)

‘Syberia: The World Before’

‘The World Before’ intertwines two timelines; that of Daha Roze, a pianist in the fictional country of Osthethal in the 1930s, with protagonist Kate Walker in the 2000s.

March 31, 2022Syberia: The World Before is a game all about history, albeit not in purely narrative terms, even though its dual storylines are set in both the 1930s and at the turn of the millennium around the early 2000s. Rather, it is in its gameplay mechanics and structure that this latest installment in the adventures of Kate Walker reveals itself to be a video game firmly stuck in the past — in a few good ways.

A boss climber and action-adventure survival game, not unlike Shadow of the Colossus, does ‘Praey’ manage to separate itself from its obvious inspiration?

December 29, 2021 — PlayStation’s Shadow of the Colossus broke ground in 2005 and again with its 2018 remake. No Matter Studios is a three-person team of game development veterans who had been making Praey for the Gods, an open-world survival twist on the same boss climbing fighter as Shadow. After years of development, Praey has finally arrived.
